Most electrical or electronically operated locks are referred to as Access Control. Many instances include using a computer system or self-contained electronic unit to control any person or persons allowed into a given area--much like the electric gate at your local storage center or entrance to your apartment building. This type of system gives the proprietor all the control needed to allow who is going where, when, or not at all. It can be quite a useful tool in many instances as well as absolutely necessary in others. These systems can get very costly depending on the scale of the application and at the same time, some small systems are quite inexpensive due to their simplistic design
